“Most of the job titles an individual will be qualified for after earning their PharmD degree will have the word ‘pharmacist’ in it, but the fact remains that it’s an incredibly varied field. There are more than 100 different career paths that someone might choose once they earn their PharmD. Some of these can be pursued right out of the gate, while others require additional training.”

Northeastern’s signature co-op integration is the only program of its kind among U.S. pharmacy schools. As part of your comprehensive, year-round education, you will complete two full-time, four-month, paid co-op experiences, satisfying the Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE) requirement for accreditation and receiving more than four times the IPPE hours delivered by other pharmacy programs nationwide.

Pursue traditional or non-traditional career pathways.

Many students who earn their PharmD pursue more common careers for the degree or those more closely aligned with the role of a pharmacist. These careers include community pharmacist; clinical pharmacist; institutional pharmacist; consultant pharmacist; and pharmaceutical industry pharmacist.

As the field evolves, students are also pursuing growing pathways that include veterinary pharmacist; geriatric pharmacist; infusion and compounding pharmacist; public health, and legal advisor.
