Master of Science in Resilience Studies

The Master of Science in Resilience Studies is a first-of-its-kind graduate degree program that focuses on maximizing systemic and societal resilience. Because you’ll learn from both technical and policy experts, you’ll gain a new perspective on security challenges and the cutting-edge skills needed to prepare for, withstand, and recover rapidly in the face of disasters like climate change, pandemics, terrorism, and more.

You’ll have the unique opportunity to:

  • Customize your security studies graduate program with an elective theme that best aligns with your professional goals: administration management and policy, counterterrorism and conflict studies, cybersecurity policy, resilient cities, or criminal justice.
  • Study and network with world-renowned experts who are informing and shaping the global approach to emerging threats and disaster recovery, such as Daniel Aldrich, director of the Center for Resilience Studies, and Stephen Flynn, co-director of the George J. Kostas Research Institute for Homeland Security.
  • Strengthen your resumé and gain hands-on experience through co-ops, case studies, group work, capstone projects, and collaborative research relationships with organizations like Mass General Hospital, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, and the U.S. Marshals Service.
  • Participate in groundbreaking research at the Global Resilience Institute, The Social Impact Lab, and the Dukakis Center for Urban and Regional Policy.
